Glastonbury looks very cool… I did audit a number of the bands & sets on BBC as I did last year. They have great sound and live videos of the festival. Though the sound from the 2nd stage, The Park, was not as well mixed IMO. I’m not focussing on Glastonbury in this MA post but some cool sets were offered by The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, Gracie Abrams, Weezer, Lorde, Wet Leg, Lucy Dacus, Japanese Breakfast, Beabadoobee, and The 1975 ; those were my favorite sets from “big bands” so far. And, as one might figure, I reviewed every vid on the “Introducing” stage for breakthroughs… here I like Jo Hill and Fiona Lee so far.
Everything Else...
- The Wilder Flower “Every Time The Rain Comes Pouring In” 04Jun25 ~ Cool somewhat noobs.
- Wilderado Live EP In Nashville 16Jun25 (premier - recorded Nov24)
- Blues Traveler & Gin Blossoms Mashup: “Run Around/Hey Jealousy” 29May25 ~ So this is how you roll when a bit past prime. Both were pretty good in the day as is this mashup today.
- Watchhouse “Glistening” 28Jun25 ~ As here, typically spectacular, and a bit sad.
- Brandi Carlile “The Story” @ Glastonbury 28Jun25 ~ She's not in Europe often so shared the very good "The Story" song.
- The Beths “Metal (OV)” 28Apr25 and The Beths Making Of Metal ~ Of course it's pronounced "meetal" for Kiwis. The "making of" really shows some of Elizabeth's mad skills mixing/producing and leading the whole thing. They're coming again to CO in Nov and I wanna go.
- Lizzy McAlpine “Drunk , Running” @ Lollapalooza 15Apr25 ~ Great writer, keen voice, I really like her lyricism... she doesn't need to rhyme a story, just sing it. So good.
- Sharon Silva “People To Please” OG Release 06Jun25 ~ An 'old' fav still writing keen songs and releasing solos now.
- AJ Lee & Blue Summit Full Live Show @ Millennium 25Jun25 ~ They are mainly here again 'cause I've never seen them coordinate uniforms. Always excellent.
- Gina Miles (S23 Winner of The Voice) “Nothing Compares 2 U” ’23 ~ I missed this season; Gina is a really strong singer ~ I look forward now to some originals.
