Sure I listen to headphones most often but there are of course times when listening through speakers is needed. I didn't really have that ability in the office in Summit. I repurposed some NHT SB1 bookshelf speakers in the Nest's office/tying room and added a modern amp to drive them. I did have retired amps but I wanted some modern features like a good DAC and bluetooth & USB for connectivity and a size appropriate for a desktop. The small, low distortion, 60 watt/channel, 24/384 DAC NAD 3045 was perfect for the task - it's recent but its predecessors won some awards. I tried the HDMI and optical inputs too and while fine, USB is more convenient for me and the other digital inputs are "limited" to 24/192. The keen install looks and works great and now affords me tunes while tying and guests a simple bluetooth connection if they want to listen. I'm mainly sourcing material through USB via the remote JRiver Media Center on my MacBook. I built my own high grade speaker cables with 12 gauge stranded zipcord and Nakamichi plugs.
