We lost a songwriting legend to the virus today. Many know I've listened to John Prine all my life, and he was spectacular. I sense he was lung-compromised when seeing his last major outing at Strombo, but he's always been a better writer and instrumentalist than he was a singer. Wow... he recently wrote the irreverent "When I Get To Heaven." not unlike Warren Zevon who thumbed his nose at it recently before he died. Big loss. Here he is playing House of Strombo...
I love the tribute from another favorite Brandi Carlisle. John Prine was a treasure and the artists and all y'all should know it too.
John's version...
You know... I'm considered the elderly and the song is tough for sure, even for me - he was prophetic, as he wrote this at 24. Plus there's these- which are awesome. Prine & Murray and Prine & Carlile.
