We first let out for the Dillon Farmer's Mkt to assure purchase of plenty of the last round of peaches from Forte Farms in Palisade. Amazing - they are the best tasting freestones and now they are the size of grapefruit!
After dropping off 10# of these beauties, I headed to the Blue River below Green Mtn Rez. It was a gorgeous day with flows up a smidge - I thought. I checked in and flows were up to 400cfs - high but OK - I arrived and they were 500cfs after a big bump today - high and sketchy. I caught some small browns on the Silver Surfer (chosen due to flows and green hue) like that shown but else the fish were hiding from me and the flows. I didn't biff! I descended with the RFCO and it shot well, especially into some wind which came up this afternoon. I was fortunate to avail myself on canyon entry of a real mountaineering rope someone had thoughtfully replaced over the prior parachute cord bound to fail - thank you Jurassic mystery person.
Escaping Jurassic with few fish but myself and rig in tact I came upon Mr. Gomez, a high roofer working at Brown's Lodge. Serendipity perhaps but I engaged him and his partner to hoist the ladder high and walk the ridgeline to repair a few shingles on the west peak line of the roof. He did more than that and I escaped cheap and fixed. Golly - I used to do the steep pitched roofs but no more. Glad some boys scored big after hours on a quick job.
Fincognito vs Stance - Regular boxers tend to ride up in bed or in waders or hiking shorts. I've trialed some alternatives known generally as boxer briefs. Kala bought some for me originally and Matt wears these, and I began to appreciate the differences. I've compared multiple brands and materials now - hey, undies are important. The two best are Fincognito: fish art, 80% poly and nice performance. A keen alternative is Stance, with shorter inseam but 95% cotton composition and a nice pocket for my junk. These styles ride less, fit close and work admirably under outdoors gear. Plus, they are more stylish (as Superfly can attest), especially on my svelte frame :). I went with the Stance for comfort and material, though the inseams could be longer.
