LDWE With Bro Brown 02Sep21-06Sep21

Kala & I had a great outing @ King's Deer with a fine dad & son team, I sucked and Kala played great but we enjoyed every putt. The dad & son were in a bout - dad crushed the ball-crusher in the match with great touch shots and putts ~ yeah for the old dudes, Simply great and special people with whom to play.

I left for Summit in order to catch Oktoberfest and visit with my big broheme Steve Brown. We took in a bunch of stuff starting with a few toasts and then hitting the lake for a (failed) sail. We readied and almost launched before the hail. Whatever. Undaunted we hit ORB for happy hour and brunch. Then, on to the NestT for a little "training" and some Asheville Burial before live music @ Rainbow Pk for Satellite 13 and Motet; Colorado bands with altitude... it was awesome and just in our 'hood.

It's time for a new day and Keystone Oktoberfest ~ It was lame. Glass stein with sticker and 3 New Belgium beers poured from cans, and briefly trained polka dancers with Austrian oompha band. We we left early but did laud the Atomic Pumpkin (the only draft at the show) with pumpkin and jalepeno. Mockery...
Then another day led to true sailing, including a downwind wing-on-wing move, and more ORB. We chose not to drive to the Roaring Fk for the Spoon-Nicole Adkins show but it was seriously in the conversation.

We dined along Eagles Nest with many good foods for these days and enjoyed many good football games, for each of which I called the outcome before game time ~ don't short me.

Moving on to LD we took out over Fremont Pass to fish the very start of the Arkansas River at it's headwaters between the 1st overpass southbound and the Crystal Lks turnoff upstream. Great day of many German Browns ~14"-16", but for my mate who had less luck. Best bugs were a #20 MHFBPT and a #22 Jimi's Axe emerger. Wielded the RF Colorado despite the smaller presented scale of river ~ as this was the 1st chance to toss it in the field. Fish were all like these with only one hit on the Chubby - not lookin' up today. We dined on the river then took out through a LD clog in Leadville.

I laud the RFCO for firing power, mid-distance (30yds) overall performance, comfortable & sufficient casts, and strong landing power. What should I ask? ~ "Kicked ass?  ~ "Yep."

There's a new and good brewer in PbVille! We enjoyed stopping @, drinking @, chatting @ Two Mile brewery on Rt #24 right in town. Its a new cool building in the Historic District - gr8 vibe with a fine Purdue nuclear engineer on the brews & taps. Biz was brisk on closing of LDWE but notable for the upper Ark.

We returned to Summit via the same route over the pass and bombed into Officer's Gulch for a pass on 10 Mile. Meh... normal #18 Chubby had no fish looking up and neither of us hooked up until, on one of my final casts this day, I fooled a 10" rainbow. Lucky to sure; used the RF Brook 3#.

We wanted to stay "home" so spent for AJ's house of good brew and fine tacos, after a weak pass on the Officer's Gulch section of 10 Mile Ck.
Home town tavern... "Send'er" is serious and awesome.
