Hiking Canyonlands NP @ Needles - Cave Spring & Slickrock 28Sep18

Today we finished in the Moab area with a drive south to the Needles entrance of Canyonlands. We stopped at Newspaper Rock - meh. It didn't tell a story to me and some folks had defaced it in the 50's with their names - assholes.
We first hiked Cave Spring where cowboys made a home in the caverns for shade and where water seeped from the walls into streams. Decent.
We also took the Slickrock Loop which overlooked deep canyons and provided distant but powerful views of the spires giving Needles its name.
For extra credit we headed to Elephant Hill on a dirt road. The colors were weird like red velvent cake with white icing. From the end of this road is where the TH to get into the Needles is located but we didn't have the time or inclination to hike more.
As we left the NP we needed air for one tire and stopped at a spot with a classic sign...
