Well I'm here so I went to 11 Mile today. It was pretty crowded throughout the canyon with 48 cars on the road and campgrounds bustling. Flows, while low, are holding at 55 cfs. Fishing was decent but the spawn is over and cutthroat, rainbow and cutbows have left the redds. This also means that the biggest fish in the river are less accessible. There was modest midge and BWO hatch sign on and off today. I caught a bunch of 16"ers and two nicer 18"ers but nothing larger. I had a real case of flying fish during attempted "shows" today. I was there during the less effective time - 11am-3pm after a late start, and fished only a few key spots given popularity. I did get to trial my new custom fighting butt for the Rodfather SB2020. Effective midges were #22-#24 Top Secrets & Krystal Flash Awesome Midges; good mayflies included #20 Destiny's Child, #18 Black Ice, #20 grey merc head RS2s. I was a very nice day - it's always awesome to be in 11 Mile canyon fishing but on the way out I was "governed" by a very cautious driver for most of the trip.
