Gorgeous Day On The PT With Andy 03Mar22

Andy & I hit the town section of the PT on a glorious day in SoCO. So, some CoWWBoyz are "on the board" in March ~ but I'm sure these posts will not stand. It was sunny and well into the mid 70°s and the fishing was OK. I haven't fished the town section of the Pueblo Tailwater till this year and now on my 3rd outing I am beginning to get the hang of it a bit. In the AM we fished at and above the footbridge and in the PM I tried the trough beneath the murals for the first time. Among the bounty of seven for me were cutbows of 19.5", 17" and 15" ~ I did fumble one potentially larger cutbow. Andy caught a nice brown among his prey, fishing alongside the tongue run below the slower trough water. Midges still do the heavy lifting with black MHFB zebra and top secret emergers fooling the most; although, in this lower section I did actually spy one mayfly. The redds are evident and on some I even saw some spawning action. The water was very clear and very low.

The "fumble" on the big fish wasn't without extreme effort. He swam beneath a pipe in the river and I had to pass my rod under it to keep him on... which I did successfully! However, right after that he bored into a buried bush and broke off on a tshirt caught in that... grrr.

We returned to Blodgett and enjoyed some premium Coffin margs on the deck. Fine outing.
