Fishing The PT In The Wind ~ Solo @ 480cfs Rising And With BobR @ ~780cfs And Still Rising

15May25... My site showed 410cfs on the Ark PT @ Nature Center, perfect for post-spawn fishing. I headed south early for  a nice 70° day but with 25mph gusts. I watched my wind knots and casting directions and tossed the wind cheating Bomber class RF Ghost Cloud 8.5' 5wt. The Perdigon-Mercury Midge-mayfly dispatched itself well. There were thousands of starlings over the river chomping midges from the outset. It was kind of wild to watch. What happened in the sky, happened in the water too as the MHFB mercury midge took most of the fish this day. Fish were all strong and came about 2.5/hr; I caught a couple of smaller ones but most were 17"-19" cutbows.

On the river I encountered few fishermen but a rising flow rate, precarious sometimes. I saw a cool 5' snake swimming and then sunbathing on a rock. I need to check to coloring and pattern but it was very pretty.
I headed to Valco Ponds section for lunch and to rest my back. Fishing was OK there too but the trout were smaller in general. Kala was dining with friends so I gave them space and had an Idaho 7 at Red Leg (to celebrate her, and my, good fortune) on bingo night on the way back.
16May25... BobR and I hit the PT again, @ about the same 8:30am put in time. No swallows today, and higher flows created turbidity. Flows were rising as well so wading was sketchy at times. I caught some expected cutbows here and there but fishing was much tougher in very similar conditions. The river rose and became even more turbid and tough. I saw many small yellow-white midges and tied on a like midge larva, with target success... but I didn't land it. BobR fired the Ghost Cloud and I toted the RF Cutty 4wt. We'd had enough and I took BobR to Valco Ponds... I caught some more. We hit Mash Mechanix with the dogs afterward. [GoPro croaked today so I did the one-hander shows; weird.]
Thanks for coming out BobR, and the ladies too of course.
