I'll focus this on emerging and mid-classic artists in the punk pop realm. Sure there are copies of Op Ivy and Green Day... let's give them their day in the sun. They carry on this killer genre well. They're very good here, only shown live, as is my want. I love the studio recording when available. You can play along with west coast vs east coast derivations (I know Mexico and SoLA is under-represented in this list, and likely is the best were it not, but my access is limited). Let's go...
- Hell Beach Beachworld Poison Mind @ World’s End, Manchester, NH 08Aug24
- Laura Jan Grade + Catbite covering Op Ivy @ The Empty Bottle 03Feb25
- Kill Lincoln @ The Pie Shop, DC 01Aug24
- Millington @ Empire Underground Albany, NY Various 19Jul24
- Interupters @ Pinkpop Various 23Jun24
- Catbite @ Lakehouse Recording Studio Asbury Pk, NJ 29Jun23
- Streetlight Manifesto @ Stone Pony Long Summer Night Asbury, NJ If And When We Rise Again Jul23
I'm serious, Catbite and Millington now set the standard. Best horns go to Kill Lincoln and Millington; completely. The Interrupters set was canned and less inspired... but wait I've reviewed the full set now; this is a great Interrupters full set from the esoteric Pinkpop... Hell Beach is emerging skill ~ a bit diminished by the lead's arrogance. Yeah, here, I'm east coast devotee. Catbite is Philly baby. Though, SM are an awesome NorCal team who's origination was as Catch 22 and who's album Keasby Nights is a classic.
