I headed over Vail Pass intended for Edward on the Eagle... but when I saw Dawg Pk on the Gore pretty open in West Vail I pulled in and pulled out the drc#1. I'm more accurate with it now knowing I have to wait just that millisecond or more before shooting, given its a smidge slower than my factory rods. Wielding a two weight is a blast, but I do lose more fish. Awesome I stopped as I landed a number of good fish including a nice rainbow and some nice browns in the AM on DRC's #20 black BHEZWD40 and dark #14 BHFBGRHE @ 150cfs.
After I fished a small piece of water up to the footbridge, and others arrived, I left for the Eagle but downstream at the mouth of the Gore was unfettered... I stopped there too and scored some more fish including a decent 'bow on the olive chubby and a CO cutthroat to complete my day's triple! Gr8 day in the Vail valley.
I finished a quick pass and headed to lunch at VBC & Rocky Mtn Taco truck. It was awesome as usual and I met a cool couple from Florida - Mike & Connie, hailing from KSU as Wildcats and intending to move to Panama to escape the insanity in the US. I hit the Eagle below Minturn after lunch and caught some smaller browns then did an August pickup run at ORB. So good, but just DIPA hazies.
