The 200cfs flows have helped the SPlatte fishery in 11 Mile Canyon IMO. While it is relatively high for fishing, the flows have really spread out the fish; they are strong. And, the morning bug sign was excellent: BWOs and tricos @ 9am, then their spinner fall, then red quills and PMDs about 11:30. I never had to tie on a midge. I caught a number of decent cutbows but the biggest was 18" while most were ~16". I stayed just 4 hours and landed about 2 fish/hr consistently. I lunched over a show hole with 4 Noses Flatiron Fog ~ but the 3 guys in the hole didn't produce while I was there. My best bugs were the ones I chose... black ice weight, purple RS2, PMD sparkle nymph and Cheesemen emerger were most productive. I tried a caddis when I saw returning egg layers but no one looked up. It was pretty fun but spotty as to where I could get in ~ there were literally 100s of fishermen in the canyon today. The new Diamond Blaze 4 wt was awesome today - deadly accurate and great on the fight of these modest fish. This was mainly a recon mission for when the Covid Haines arrive in CO.
