Missed GL But Decent @ 11 Mile And Goregeous In Summit 05Oct22

I'd hatched a plan to meet Greg today on the upper Ark for some fall brown trout action. However, I arose and got out late so stopped at 11 Mile Canyon instead (of course I let him know). I was headed to Summit for chores and vibe and fish and the extra 2 hrs going via the Ark River canyon was gonna be worth it with Greg but I just dawdled too much. The S Platte in 11 Mile was pretty crowded today but flows were a fish friendly ~130cfs. The campgrounds are actually still open to boot.. oh well. The water is choked with veg though. There was a nice fall BWO hatch going on as I arrived about 10:45am - I missed most of it and I "hate" spinner fall fishing; it's just too finicky.  It did look like the right action but I stayed with my nymphs and caught some fish on RS2 and MHFBPT and even a nice, mature, super-toothy 20" cutbow on a purple & gunmetal emerger midge. I used the newly repaired RF Diamond Blaze; I had thought to use the new Endless Wisdom but knew that would be light for some fish in this river. The 4wt Diamond Blaze is completely awesome, but I noted the older fly line on the green Ross real is cracked in a couple of places ~ time to repair or replace.

I left about 2pm when some dark clouds rolled in overhead. I thought of stopping at Tomahawk or north of Breck on the Blue but I blew by the Middle Fk and there was nearby construction on the Blue so I thought nah. I will find a stream to throw the new tool while I'm here though. The aspens are ablaze on the way and especially after hopping Hosier Pass into Summit. Of course I hit ORB & Bird Cafe for "lunch" after arriving. The color pan is from the ORB deck.
