I headed back to Summit just after our first big snow. I needed to work on the NestMT some but also was hoping for an announcement from Keystone that they'd open. The Crusher Too was encased in black ice from the drive up but the fresh 10" of snow on the back deck was awesome.
The announcement from Keystone came as hoped and my Big Bro Brown texted he'd be meeting me for the outing. It became a whole Minnesota Mafia thing when Scott too drove up from Denver to join as well. Unfortunately Steve had to deal with a "no heat or hot water" situation at the Lodge. That didn't deter us from having totties & tunes at the Nest the night before opening. The picture is blurry, and we might've been a bit blurry too but we had a great time.On Wednesday morning we let it warm up a bit and then headed over to Keystone. River Run parking was pretty full but there was no wait at the gondola. The weather proved stellar and the crowds were OK on the ribbon of snow. The snow was even pretty decent. The wait times at Montezuma were ~10min I guess, so not great. We wasted no time otherwise and bombed a number of decent and fast runs. On the way back to COS afterward I caught these cool sweeping lenticular clouds emerging from Summit.
