Nutha Outing To 11 Mile 14May18

Options are declining on the Front Range as the rivers are starting rise from runoff and associated water management. The So Platte is still running very low IMO in most sections. On the 11 Mile section today the fish were plenty spooky and I found the most accessible fish have gotten smaller than just a couple weeks ago. Minimal bug sign today in a bit of wind. Nonetheless I caught plenty of fish - mostly on the #22 Cheeseman  Emerger - I can never really tell if the fish really think this is tiny mayfly or a midge with trailing shuck - no matter, it works like a demon on most of our tailwaters. I have to tie some more though. I was near the campgrounds when the hosts moved in today... soon it'll get whacky out there. I met a recent retiree relocating from Virginia after a career in the Army. Being new to CO, I offered my blog and email as a resource for him. Here are the better pictures (I'm still futzing again with the vest cam and used some backup images from camera. I did catch a decent lipless brown at the Tunnels section but mostly fish were <17" for me today. Hey, still a blast - not too crowded. Strangely I recovered several flies from fish who must've broken off from the last hooker.
