Epic Swing Day 9 - Travel To Green River Effluent Of Fontenelle Rez 06May19

I  am so remote there are more antelope than humans, by far; I set the Crusher to 75mph, turned once, and didn’t encounter a vehicle in my lane for like 180 miles; I stopped for gas and met the attendant at a new point on the road called Fontenelle but then departed 25 miles on a dirt road through just sage to the base of the Fontenelle Dam where I did see trucks which likely carried people to work the power plant - but really no one is in sight for many miles. Yeah Weeping Rock CG is free camping as there is literally nothing here - I have to shit in the sagebrush but that’s no issue as no one but dead ‘yotes, some ducks, and insects will observe. The river is indeed Green, even up here above the Flaming Gorge. This is an unheralded tailwater of WYO so we will see if I can roust fish - my camp is on the river below the dam and I went to the bank and saw some fish so that’s a good sign but who knows if I can muster the schemes to entice them. As with many other WYO tailwaters, they are formed behind huge earthen dams built during rural electrification AND, must be great waterfowl hunting areas too as I have seen before, and again here, there is a ton of shotgun shell waste lining the banks - kind of weird there’s no rule to clean it up. WYO is an odd spot, I liked the towns near the Front Range but out here my sense is that folks eek out a very meager existence, and their domiciles show it, whether via ranching, the government or fracking/natural resources. There are no cars, just diesel dualies, likely worth more than houses, and popups are non-existent - every WYO camper is hard-sided, I think it’s the wind and weather and I admit it is a challenge. There is a gathering storm with expected real T-storm action tonight. I’ll hunker down for now but here’s what I see: my site, the river (from camper and up close selfie), the ‘yotes, the shells, and the nothin' for miles.
