Fantabulous White Rim Ride - Day 1 VC To Potato Bottom 16Oct19

We all (Daryle DeBalski, Greg Lehmann, Jim Yohanan, Steve Brown, Tom Resman, Jim Hardeman, and Craig & Jeff Vosburgh) met at the Canyonlands Visitor Center then parked at the Shaffer Hill Overlook to gear up the sag-wagons. My Crusher and Jeff's F150 long would sag us the 100+ miles of the White Rim road while we mountain biked it. The weather was perfect and the team was stoked to be tested on our first foray of riding in a Natl Pk. After loading we headed counter clockwise from the VC to the Mineral Bottom Rd to the top of the plateau for lunch. Greg drove the Crusher on the first leg then cycled back to meet me on the way on Mineral Bottom Rd.
After lunch above Mineral Bottom Yoho took the reigns of the Crusher and we dropped in for a ride into the canyon and a ~20 mile ride along the river (sure it was - but there were sands and climbs in the way).
Ultimately we popped over a plateau finger of sand and back toward the Green River and onto our ultimate stop for the night backcountry camping at Potato Bottom A. We were all alone at the CG and found great tent pads and setup for all. The Vozs cooked; I curated a playlist on Jim's BT speaker with "firelight;" camp was adorned with LED lights; Jeff & Greg provided bourbon. We rested very well this evening knowing we were visiting other worldly awesomeness with a great team.
