Easter weekend was closing weekend @ Keystone as well. I headed to Summit for their Springtastic Festival with terrain park contests, pond skimming, and free live music; I skied too of course. I arrived to the mountain late to allow the partial sun to warm the snow so I could push it around rather than slip right off of it. There was enough sun I chose the dark lenses. It all worked, but I was solo, and I grabbed a quick 13Kft of vert in decent spring conditions and with largely uncrowded lines and trails. Caught a decent pan of the Gore Range & Dillon Rez as well as selfies over the Gore and over 10 Mile Range.
I stopped skiing as the bands and snowboard rail jam were starting at Mountain House base. Toyota sponsored the skiing and was showing some cool tricked out 4 Runners. Somewhat an unusual spot as most festivals are at River Run, but due to this event I parked at Mtn House for free to enable an easy exit. Given Easter WE there were not many folks at the festival but the vibe was good. The music was OK and filled with alternative and classic covers.Given $8 buds and $20 burgers I declined to dine or imbibe at the festival. Except that Bud Light Seltzer was sampling and in order to score the hat (for Rob Haine) I actually had to try the mango BL Seltzer. The booth lady was cute and the layout was humorous with a couple of Coors Light ladden patrons setting up right next to the BL tent. I'm sporting the hat in front of "The Last Drop" trail, still open and the only black run into Mtn House base... one of those are my lines.I split the scene after a couple of hours and hit "Last Chance" on my way back to the Nest. Yummy pizza and a decent collaboration west coast IPA between Breck/Jimmy. $19 total, and better.
