Epic Day In Elevenmile Canyon 12Apr17
I arrived late ~11am on a gorgeous clear sunny CO spring day ~58° in 11 Mile Canyon. It was pretty crowded for a Wed but with other SoCO rivers high, I understand. I fished for five hours and caught (and landed - must be getting more patient and shakin' off the cobwebs) many big fish. I couldn't move upstream from the final bridge too quickly as what I was doin' was working in each spot. The tungsten BHFBPT worked, the UV2 RS2 worked, the Awesome Midge worked and the Mercury FB Black Beauty #24 worked. So, everything I was doing was working. At one point I caught big fish on every cast on 8 in a row and I was fishing just below another fisherman - who was amazed, as was I. What a blast. The only issue on the day was the fact that I didn't get an image of my largest fish - a 20" super-fat cutty. A guy came over to "help" and as I dropped him out of my net while getting the camera for the guy to get the shot, he reach down to grab him and he bolted with my midges attached. Oh well... this day it didn't matter to me much - he was just trying to help. Here are just some of >2 dozen; I finally caught a couple of browns, and one full cutty with the rest cutbows and rainbows.
