Pissing Them Off With Egg Sucking Micro-Leeches 05Apr17
I'll try something new this spring. After hearing and reading Landon Mayer more I've tied up some micro-leeches. Shown here are my egg sucking versions in black and natural, though I have non-suckers too. Leeches are not only super nutritious morsels for trout but when they are stealing eggs from a redd then that just pisses them off. I tied them pretty small as it's early in the year and not all leeches are big. Mine are tied with a 2488H #14 hook, olive mylar underbody, a plastic bead, micro pine squirrel zonker and ostrich herl "thorax" braided to color-match the zonker. We'll see; they should work right now, early spring, where rainbows, cutthroats and cutbows live, like on the PT and 11 Mile.
