Small Rig Contemplation & MLax League Championship Weekend 07May22

I am contemplating if I can smuggle the small rig into the concert this evening. This setup is for recording music live and is typically reserved for outside venues, but with the Mysterines playing at a local bar/lounge - it might work. It's mostly plastic but the mic & iRig Pre HD A-to-D interface are telling "pro" pieces. They would not clear a metal detector or a pat down. My small rig can record video and 96KHz/24bit audio to an iPhone!

It's not only concert season but it's lacrosse season too. In fact, this weekend is league championship weekend where most of the top D1 teams faceoff against their best league competitors. Air Force was in the ASUN playoffs but fell to Robert Morris 7-9 in the semis. Lehigh too had a strong season but lost to BU 12-13 in the semis of the Patriot League. DU also was sometimes in the top 10, but lost a close one to Villanova 14-15.
Still, today, most leagues are hosting championship games.
Tomorrow holds the Patriot League championship between BU and Army, the Big 10 final between Maryland (undefeated #1) and Rutgers, and the Ivy championship between Penn & Yale. If you are forecasting for the LaxBuddy trophy you need to watch some of these games - the Ivy is like the ACC of prior years... many more teams than the league champ will get to the NCAA tourney. Anybody can win a lax game on any Saturday but were I a betting guy I'd take these teams as league champs:

  • Georgetown
  • Maryland
  • Hobart
  • Towson
  • UMBC
  • Jacksonville
  • Duke
  • Manhattan
  • Utah
  • Army
  • Yale

All this will help determine the final slate of 16 teams for NCAA tourney.

UPDATE - I am not faring well at all above - good thing I did not lay those bets. The slates for the NCAA lax championships have been set. With a year off, the surprisingly strong Ivy League placed 6 teams while the ACC only one - I'm pretty surprised Notre Dame was snubbed... they felt like a top 8 team to me. Anyway, here's the bracket with two play in games.
