We got together with Jim & Mary in Denver for a packed set of events over a couple days, and a gracious stay at their keen downtown condo. First up was Meow Wolf, a very cool mixed media permanent art installation. It was amazing - 147 funky artists' installations among an integrated maze-like gallery. The land used for the building would otherwise be a waste beneath roadway ramps so even that was cool. We had a blast. Highly recommended.
We're with Mary so we surely came home to prep for our evening dinner at Quality Italian. QI was excellent; we enjoyed great steaks, chops and lobster pasta with a fine Ripasso. We did get a smidge carried away with additional after dinner drinks but we were Ubering home. We headed up to the rooftop bar at the hotel on a spectacular late summer evening in Denver. Great first day.We rested easily but forgot to properly park Kala's car in the purchased spot at Beauvallon so Jim sat bolt upright at 2am. No problem really though, in the AM we started with a hot tub bath and Americanos at the condo facilities. Then we headed to the always great Denver Botanic Gardens where we caught the current sculpture installation Ursula von Rydingsvard's The Contour of Feeling. The ladies thought it was great but frankly I didn't quite appreciate it as much. Most of the stuff was large rough-sawn cedar pieces glued together though there was a nice pile of sewn cow intestines looking like bed sheets. We ate quiche and stuff at the DBG before touring the grounds. The flora is amazing and I even got to get a selfie at the Nokhu Crags, virtually. We then headed over to catch a first run movie "My Old School" at the SIE in Denver (of course J&M are members and already had bought the tix). It was a good quasi-documentary, but left a lot of questions. Our 30 hours of Denver days was over and we headed back past Matt & Alexa's to grab some parts for a server build.
