Nest Theater Part Three - Audio Shelving 04Mar20

I built audio equipment shelves to match my new Nest theater speakers - like the horns, the shelves remain unfinished till warmer days. I used the same 45mm Baltic birch panels and beveled the edges as I did the speakers and supertweeters. I used 1 & 3/4" soft maple dowels (no appropriate birch available), that I cut to appropriate lengths for the "legs." I embedded screw-in nuts on the end of each piece and that allowed me to bind each corner column solidly together with the ones above and below. The shelving came out great and is rock solid. Of course the image shows obvious spots for the amp and the DAC but the source is on the top and the power system is on the bottom. I also built new speaker wires with some Nakamichi banana plugs and 16 gauge zip cord - sure I'd have preferred 12 gauge but I found an unused spool at the house.
