I decommissioned the Topping MX3s some time ago from an ill-fated attempt to use it for surrounds, with an inadequate Dolby source, in the NestMT. So, for what should I use it? I don't know but I want to understand it better. So, I measured it and listened to it in a bakeoff with the NAD D3045 ~ both of them are Class D amps afterall. I anticipated a difference but it was a large difference. The Topping was pretty thin compared to the NAD. It's features are pretty similar to the NAD but it doesn't have the power section that the NAD does. I'll try to sell it I guess. Here are equivalent SPL sweeps for each amp ~ the sub was "on" so the low end is the same as it's a different amp; any difference is just the sub-out line level between the NAD and Topping. Sure, the D3045 is 3.5X ($700) the price of the MX3s ($200) but still...
